Ann Light is Professor of Creative Technology at the University of Sussex and a qualitative researcher specializing in human-computer interaction; design for social wellbeing and the politics of participation. With qualifications in humanities, arts and artificial intelligence, and a DPhil in computer science, she draws on many influences, publishing chiefly on design of social process, co-design, social innovation, interaction and methodology. Her research career, which has included leading teams on interdisciplinary research spanning transport and architecture to ethically-sourced consumption, was preceded by experience of management and facilitation acquired in design company start-ups, as a drama teacher and journalist. She has led an international charity devoted to cultural exchange using digital media and worked with arts and grass-roots organizations on five continents, in local, transnational and international development settings, as well as with marginalized groups.
